Jeogeot Gulf

As land and rental prices rise in the Blake Sea area, news about Jeogeot Gulf is slowly filtering out from SL aviation and naval combat groups.

For budget conscious residents, Jeogeot Gulf is a lower cost alternative to Blake Sea - located in the Jeogeot continent - Jeogeot Gulf is a large Linden Land rez enabled combat area specifically for WW2 and modern naval and aviation battles.

There is no official combat system, and pirates and sailing ships are welcome.

Personally, I find it a bit messier than Blake Sea. Skyboxes hover low in the sky. Billboard style advertisements can be seen hither and yon.

Blake Sea looks better and it's where you'd want to live, while battle action takes place in Jeogeot Gulf. Residents and managers of Blake Sea can get irritated when it comes to large scale battles (NIMBY). There are good reasons for each area. You'll find me hopping around both.

Depth of Field, SL Go, iPad

All settings are max'd out on SL Viewer. I'm using SL Go on an iPad 2. At present the SL Viewer is the only viewer on SL Go's iPad App.

SL Throwback Thursday

SL Throwback Thursday - with a peak into my ATEK avatar.

Below is a pic from my first month in SL. I think it was taken sometime late January or early February 2007. It's also one of my first "Girls with Guns" poses.

Compare the above pic with my first week avatar look in the ATEK Grid below...

An amazing difference!

If you're in ATEK give me a shout and friend me. I'm Zoe Connolly there too.

SL Group: Skyway Couriers, items needed for roleplay

Group Notice From: SKYWAY COURIERS, Zoe Connolly

Coming soon. A little roleplay where I will play the part of the passenger with the mysterious item.

What we'll need for the next and future RPs is a McGuffin. An item that drives our plot. All items should be transferable so we can pass it to each other.

List of items needed for roleplay:

  1. Briefcase
  2. Briefcase full of money
  3. Briefcase with top secret files
  4. Faberge Egg to grasp in a hand or display on a table
  5. Trunk or box
  6. Trunk or box with money
  7. Trunk or box with glowing object.
  8. Glowing object to grasp in a hand or display on a table.
  9. Or your own idea

We could also use a really awesome logo we can use inworld for our planes, etc and also serve as the SL Group logo.

Thanks!

Lately I have so many photographs I kindof forgot what my original concept was for this post. Oh well! Better to have more material than none!

SL Group: A Message to RCAF and Future Plans

Group Notice From: (RCAF) Royal Caledon Air Force, Zoe Connolly

I want to thank everyone who attended last Saturdays great event. We had loads of positive feedback and the folks at Dogs On The Run were delighted. Trinka Adored and DA Admiral from DOR were very happy with the turnout and so was I! -- a total of 16 people showed up from across the SL aviation community!

Cornelius Fanshaw and I are already busy with plans for the near future. Combat and commercial SL Aviation is thriving. In addition to Blake Sea, there are new sims available for flying and sailing - and great builders are releasing aircraft at a regular rate.

For those of us who want more out of Second Life than just fashion and sex, the adventures await!

(Pictured Below) Cornelius and I chat about our new RCAF WW2 Group called 401 Squadron RCAF. We fly WW2 adventures as Royal Canadian Air Force, instead of the steampunk Victorian version Royal Caledon Air Force. We were joined by authentic Canadian Barry Foehammer.

New SL Aviation Group: 401 Squadron RCAF

Description: Originally No.1 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, the squadron arrived in Britain in 1940 where it took part in the Battle of Britain, flying Hawker Hurricanes.

In 1941 was renamed No. 401 Squadron and reequipped with Spitfires which it continued to use throughout the rest of the war.

It was one of the first squadrons to operate from French soil after D-Day and also the first Commonwealth squadron to shoot down an Me262. It was credited with shooting down 186 1/2 enemy aircraft during WWII.

As you can see from the pics below, we'll also have an air vs sea element too.

RCAF has a new venue for dogfighting

Thanks to the great folks at DOR (The Dogs On The Run group), the Royal Caledon Air Force is invited to dogfight at their fine sim, Pengo Bayou, for future dogfighting events.

I have a post about our successful first dogfight of the season very soon.

In addition, my helicopter group SLHPA will have events at Pengo Bayou, too.

WW2 Era Dogfight - The Battle of Pengo Bayou (part 3)

Unfortunately, the Axis won that day. But you can help win the war!

Enjoy the fun and excitement of challenging dogfights.

Bond with SL dogfighters and other aviation enthusiasts at DOGS ON THE RUN (DOR). From rookie to experienced pilot. Everyone is welcome!

Noobie asks "But Zoe, I've never flown an airplane in SL before. What, where, how, etc...?"  No problem, my noob friend. They even have a flight training school for rookie pilots.

Donations are always welcome - and please use the vendors in the sim to help support this excellent SL Aviation venue.

Join the DOR Group for information on upcoming events.

SL Go, photography, and Goldilocks

Before I begin, I don't work for OnLive and I'm not in any way compensated for any endorsements of SL Go.

There seems to be some disagreement among a few SL Bloggers on the merits of SL Go and photography.

Two resident's popped up on my blog-feed this morning:

The first one I read...
Ciaran Laval: SLGO Is Worth A Dabble But Snapshots Are Easier With A Normal Client

Followed by the second...
Jo Yardley: The pleasure of photography in Second Life with SLGo

It all comes down to the individual user's computer and broadband Internet.

My broadband is blazingly fast. Plus, we have the latest Netgear WiFi router. Our family can run almost two dozen devices - several of them can stream video simultaneously. This is a definite requirement when keeping young boys busy while we adults enjoy Netflix (such as House of Cards) and HBOGO (such as Game of Thrones).

For me, SLGo is "Goldilocks" - for my home and business situation. It's JUST right. It allows me a choice I didn't have before. The option of staying with a regular, easily replaceable laptop I use at home or mobile and remotely use a super-computer on a month-to-month lease.

My options weren't great before SL Go. I was very very close to deciding if 2015 would be the year I would permanently leave SL or not. Now, since SL Go, I can run Second Life on my mid-level laptop and be able to do most things I did before.

Back to the subject of photography... I've never EVER been able to take great snapshots in SL. For the last few weeks I've taken many action shots that I think, look fantastic - and I look forward to creating more interesting and artistic still shots in the future. This would NOT be possible without SL Go. My entire Second Life in 2015 would not be possible without SL Go. So I'm perfectly fine with emailing snapshots to my email address.

I'm with Jo Yardley on this.
