A short testflight with the Vega Gull in SL. Built by bunnys fride. The Percival Vega Gull is an absolute awesome elegant aeroplane of the 1930s, designed by Edgar Wikner Percival.

Machinima Test

This is little test machinima I created at Cornelius Fanshaw's Tarington Aerodrome. He redecorated his WW2 style RAF Tarington Field to resemble a Royal Flying Corp World War 1 era aerodrome complete with trenches between his parcel and Niki Wilder's place at Rundlelawn.

 I would have planned the shot much better, but I was just winging it as an experiment - just to see if it was possible. It's been a very long time since I last created a machinima and to be honest I forgot a lot of basics. Yay Google!

This is a single shot using 3D Space Navigator.

I used music from a YouTube approved download-able list (avoiding copyright trouble this time). The track is called "Vespers" by Topher Mohr and Alex Elena.

YouTube detected a little bumpiness on the video, so I approved some smoothing, which accounts for the dreamy wave images you see here and there.

Here are 2 Dogs On The Run photos from May 13, 2014. Of course, these were taken before I started using SLGo, so the photo quality is not as good as the more recent sets since the end of December.

I totally forgot about these!

I have a file called "SL Projects" and on a whim, was sorting and resorting photos and folders this morning.

As I remember, I popped over to DOR to check out some vendors and look around. There was a DOR Angels group practice and we all chatted for a while until RL dragged me back.

The Trials and Tribulations of an SL Event Planner

A Combat Event Planners work is never done...

We were soon joined by DA "Don" Admiral

A combat event planner (like any event planner) takes great care and thought  into the process and procedures of even the fun events like our recent steampunk balloon dogfights. At times we make financial contributions in efforts to ensure success.

For people like Cornelius and me, it could be time and energy, with small investments of money for items like rezzable planes or battle balloons. For people like Don and Vicks it could mean even more time, effort, and greater financial commitments as region owners. We hope and pray that participants like you will show up, enjoy yourselves, and want more fun and excitement from us.

And yes - we take great pride when things go well.

But we also have our share of disappointments. It's been noticed that although the steampunk battle balloon event was a big hit with all who showed up, only the usual suspects from the old steampunk Royal Caledon Air Force showed. The people who protested the loudest back in early January - that I save RCAF from my proposed shutdown / deletion date, never came - to either event. Just as I thought would happen.

So... RCAF will continue to exist as a closed, inactive group as part of Caledon, Steamland, and SL Aviation history. Everyone will have the roletag of "RoyalCaledonAirForce" while group owners will have the tag "RCAF Curator."

The new RCAF group description:

Altitude with Attitude! - This is the historic Royal Caledon Air Force. Closed, inactive, but not forgotten. To all the Connolly's Crazies out there, it was great fun! Blue Skies, everyone!

Niki Wilder and MeganAnn Mills

Niki Wilder and MeganAnn Mills are active again. I found them while visiting Hollywood airport. 

They're working on a civilian jet that should be released as soon as scripting is ready.

Both were quite active in SL around the same time I was super-active, 2007 to 2008.

SL Product: TV News Helicopter - An Update

First off... YAY!

Virtual Syl Designs has a modification for S&W Helicopters selling for L$99 on SL Marketplace. I just bought it and will try it later after work.

A Helicopter Consumer Request

I have yet to see a TV News Helicopter in Second Life. I'm not sure why this is so, but there needs to be one. Actually, I think there should be 3 or 4 different paint versions.

A builder might already have a typical Bell 206 Jet Ranger and then paint it 3 to 4 different TV station logos to sell separately or a pack. The camera attachment could be the same on all four, or perhaps attach to the avatar pilot when seated.
