The Heliograph: Airship Races in Antiquity this weekend!

Passing this news along (curtsy to Rafael Fabre)

The Heliograph: Airship Races in Antiquity this weekend!

('My Airship', by Shawn Kun, Deviant Art)

Received this message during my efforts to construct an edifice..

Welcome to the second Antiquity airship race! This year, there are two classes, physical engines and non-physical engines.

Again, these crafts must be steampowered, whether that be or prop or steam jet (as long as it is steam). The first race starts at 12:30 SLT in Antiquity, on Saturday, the 22nd of November.

1st prize in both races is L$5000.

The 'Physical Engine' class will run first, followed by the 'Non-Physical Engine'.

The course will be available prior to the race start.

Good luck to all!

Ironclads and my return to WeGame....

This is my first video since the major upgrade for SL Windlight users. Note that the text is legible once again and the details are back.

The video itself shows preparations for a free-for-all Ironclads battle in the 19th Century sim known as Antiquity in Second Life.

Prim Perfect to launch new magazine! « Prim Perfect

Prim Perfect to launch new magazine! « Prim Perfect

Poster for the launch of the new magazine".....Prim Perfect will be a year old in May. During the last ten months, we’ve grown from 0 to 10,000 readers, and we’ve launched a TV show - Meta Makeover. Now we’re ready for our next big venture - a new magazine!

In collaboration with the Connolly Telegraph, we will shortly be launching a wholly new magazine with a very special twist.

This is one catering for the large number of people in Second Life who are interested and involved in the steampunk and historical recreation sims covering a period between 1740 and 1920 (that is, roughly speaking, the period covered by sims from Versailles to New Toulouse). It will be centred on the Independent State of Caledon, but it is hoped that all the other period sims will become involved and play a part too.

It will draw on the existing strengths of its partner founders; the news gathering skills and content experience of the Telegraph, and the design, production and features writing of Prim Perfect....."

Decisions, decisions...

My SL News: My time is so limited....I have to make difficult choices on what I do in SL and what brings me the most joy.

As many of you know, I love Victorian Steampunk sims such as Caledon, New Babbage, Antiquity and Steelhead City. My involvement in Steampunk has grown at a tremendous rate.

I also love the Battlestar Pacifica sim known as BSG47. My involvement there is growing over time as I get to know more of my fellow roleplayers. A few people I met there have given me a position in IPX and the upcoming Babylon 5 sim. I've been offered a few opportunities I have yet to decide on..... like the possibility of a Duchy sim in Antiquity.

I've developed a love for sailing and flying in Caledon and Antiquity.

Well...I've made the decision now. One I've been thinking of for many months. When I woke up this morning I had the answer to my time management issues.....I've decided to leave several great groups I've created, so this is a painful one....like letting go of your child in a way, seeing her off on her first day of school. Painful, scary, and hoping for the very best for your little girl.

I'll be leaving 3 groups....

1) Girls and Guns
2) Second Life Bloggers
3) Second Life BloggerCon

I'll leave as soon as leadership is filled and transfer of powers are completed.

This decision does NOT come easy, but it *is* a necessary one in order for me to preserve my health, sanity, and happiness in SL.

A warning to all in regards my half-sister Zabrina

I was hoping to avoid this announcement, but alas...it is now unavoidable.

My younger half-sister Zabrina McMahon has taken a decidedly dark-hearted view of humanity and seems bent on World Domination.

Several weeks ago whilst conducting laboratory experiments to create a doorway between universes, Zabrina was injured in an explosion. I rushed to her aid and took her to the best doctors in Caledon.

Very recently she has emerged from her convalescence and is back amongst the living. Although her body is healed, her mind has been tainted somehow....The good girl I knew is gone.

Zabrina is now....quite evil....

In my Caledon Regency lighthouse I've discovered scribblings of notes and diagrams for various schemes and nefarious plans hidden behind a bookcase. They all involve the overthrow of several governments...Most notably Antiquity, Caledon, and New Babbage. All are penned in her handwriting.

At times she will mumble or sometimes loudly declare...

"I'll show them, I'll show them all"
"The grid is mine! All mine!"
"The spirit of Valedon lives within me!"

I'm not quite sure why she mispronounced Caledon - calling it Valedon - Zabrina was in a drug-induced sleep when she made that last reference.

In light of her recent behaviour and with the Caledon Courts behind my decision, I've severely restricted her allowance from the Connolly-McMahon family fortune. I'm sure this restriction will cause her to mount some other tirade of bile against me personally, but I am convinced that it is absolutely necessary for the long-term security of our homeland.

Second Life, SteamPunk & Silvera: Defending Zoe

Thanks to Tinsel Silvera and others who have come forward in my defense...

Second Life, SteamPunk & Silvera: Defending Zoe:

"I was shocked to read Miss Zoe's blog entry that she had been accused of being a spy. I had started to post a response on her blog but then thought that more was needed than just that. First let me say that anyone who knows her knows that the accusation is absolutely ridiculous. Miss Zoe has spent countless hours across the various Steampunk sims trying to unite us all...."

Sailing in Antiquity :: The Royal Antiquity Regatta

Living in Antiquity Cove has given me a new SL hobby....sailing....

Here are two snapshots of me sailing around the various Antiquity waterway sims not too far from my Antiquity Cove parcel where I have a cottage and offices for The Connolly Telegraph and the Second Life Bloggers group.

The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Antiquity will be hosting a Regatta on their sims this Saturday September 8th at 3:00 PM SL time. The start of the regatta will be at the Antiquity Bay sim. More specifics as the day gets closer...

My land in Antiquity Cove

This will illustrate the placement of the major buildings. My cottage on the left, lighthouse tower in the middle, and office building to the right. The office is HQ for The Connolly Telegraph , the Second Life Bloggers group, and the Steampunk Ladies Spy League. You can also see an example of the Yacht I recently purchased (thanks to dinee and DesertWolf for helping me choose). The one near my lighthouse belongs to the Grand Duke of Antiquity but I do have one of my own for meetings and small parties. One thing about the cottage...it may change if I can get the same one I had last spring/summer. I'm still working on obtaining a copy. Next step.....decorating!

Girls with Guns :: The Steampunk Version Part 2

I have lived in the Victorian Steampunk world for some time now. First in New Babbage, and most recently in Antiquity and Caledon. I've grown a deep affection for my homelands and the citizenry.

So it was with deep sadness I read of the recent trouble Caledon was experiencing with Vulgaria.

Vulgaria...the very name tastes sour as I say it aloud in my study.

Previously, I had been in contact with Eladrienne Laval on the subject of creating a League of like-minded Victorian Ladies who would be ready at a moments notice to protect our lands using various covert surveillance and actions.

After hearing the news out of Loch Avie, I went forward with founding this unique group ahead of projected timetables and as yet I am short staffed. I shall require several undaunted ladies who do not shy from the use of weapons or in service to Caledon, Antiquity, and New Babbage.

I present....The Steampunk Ladies Spy League (SLSL) in service to the Victorian Steampunk regions. As Spy Mistress of this organization I offer the services of The SLSL to Caledon in this hour of need.

Ladies....I implore you....there can be no substitute for a Caledon victory over Vulgaria.

Jetpacks!

From numerous visits to New Babbage I've observed many roaming about...or rather flying about the sim dressed in something no steampunk man or woman should be without...Jetpacks!

This one is my first! And here documents my very first flight from the yard of my home in Antiquity Cove, and thus a new obsession is born!

My old rental house is already gone....

Perhaps I was too emotional this weekend. My time with Tiana, the happiness I felt being with her and a few of my friends like DW, dinee, Myg and JB, the joys of being a land owner and decorating. Shopping! Dances with friends in Caledon and Grand Opening with new friends in Antiquity.

All great stuff.

But I was sad to see this...My little New England Cottage is gone. Some of you were present during the first 2 blogger parties I hosted. That house is no more. In fact all the cottages are gone, replaced by the lower prim post-modern boxes like the one pictured here. Ah well...prim counts rule don't they?

In the early hours....

I was making Grand Opening preparations to my home in Antiquity Cove, when I noticed a fellow in a boat. It was the esteemed Mr. Sin Trenton whom I've met a few times in Caledon. We had a lovely chat about Antiquity, Caledon, and matters of steampunkery.

When I returned to my lighthouse in Regency I immediately went to work, continuing my project to make it a pleasant public venue for my fellow Caledonians.
