The Missing

KC's father discovered her involvement in the French Resistance when they both learned of JP's death at the hands of the Gestapo. JP's team, recognizing KC's contributions and leadership over the previous 2 years, went directly to her for guidance.

Her father was in shock and didn't say anything to her about her involvement for weeks. He needed to grieve over his son first. The war took a huge toll on her family, and... "No!" she told herself. She pushed thoughts of her father aside for the moment. She couldn't bear to think of all that now. Even two years later it was as painful as two days after.

As sad as her brother's death was, KC thought of the others she once knew who were dead or missing since Nazi Occupation.

So many names. So many faces.

Her latest missing friend was her British contact, Ian. She knew that something very big was to happen within the next few months. But what exactly? Was it the invasion the Nazi's so feared and the French wanted so much?

She was ready for it, but on what day?

She rowed her boat closer to shore thinking of his handsome face, but also very worried for his safety. KC had lost contact with him almost two weeks earlier.

It was vital to the Resistance to find out what was happening.

There was something more. Before the chaos of the invasion intervened, she wanted to be in his arms, kiss him once again, rest her head on his shoulder and feel safe once again.

Do ALTS have more fun?

Consider this, thinking aloud...

I'm a moody-sort sometimes. It runs deep in my family.

Second Life is a fun and enjoyable pastime... sharing fun, exciting, and at times sexy activities with good friends. But what do you do when your alt has more fun than your main account?

The avatar Zoe Connolly has become an administrator for groups, offgrid social media accounts, and a manager of land and Linden Dollars. Zoe has become The Banker. Ugh!

This was not supposed to happen. This is what alts are for, yes? Zoe should be the exciting girl, the adventurous girl. The hawt Girl with Guns who does amazing things. She flies across sims to defeat evil, and is soon back home to kiss her favorite avatar of the month.

I created an alt to do the heavy lifting. Immediately, I ran into the irresistible urge to make her...well...fabulous! In a short time, I logged into my alt more often. I savored the anonymity that an alt allows, but then a funny thing happens... Your alt becomes popular too, with her own experiences, friends, and loves. You find logging into your main account an absolute chore, and you LOVE being your alt. You want to be your alt like the early days when you wanted to be your first avatar morning, noon, and night. Savoring those same feelings you had when you were happy in your main account. It's almost like falling in love. In a way, you ARE in love.

Yes, it's true. In this strange world of Virtual Identity, I've found myself in love with my avatar creations.

But what of Zoe? I still love her. She's a part of me. She IS me! I want to be happy being Zoe, again.

RL lives evolve in ways never expected. SL lives are more planned but on occasion go in unexpected directions. Zoe will continue her journey in the metaverse and prosper. She will love and be loved. But the direction she takes will change soon. It's a normal part of life in both Universes.

I'll soon decide what to do with my land in Caledon Penzance (Connolly Aerodrome) and my Royal Caledon Air Force group, with more changes to follow.

********************************************************************

What about you? How do you feel about your main avatar vs your alt(s)?

Tinkeratrix :: Ilsa Munro

One of my favourite people in Second Life now has a blog....

May I introduce my Tinkeratrix friend Ilsa Munro. She's a duchess, she builds, and does so with style, humour, and in spite of what she'll tell you, great aplomb as well.

From Ilsa's first blog post....

"I've been repeatedly informed that having a blog is a necessary step on the whole "getting the word out there" part of running a SL (tm) business so here I am catching the tail end of this particular trend. My problem is that I'm truly awful at self-promotion. It took forever for me to work up the nerve to post in the various forums in which I occasionally participate.

Two things have prompted me into action - or a reduced level of inaction. First, a friend basically told me to "shut up and do something about it" and since this is free it's the obvious choice :)

Second I can comfort my sense of modesty with the almost certain knowledge that almost no one will read this and as such it hardly makes a difference how self-aggrandizing it seems to me as I write it.

That of course leaves me with the question of exactly what to write.

A few of you might know that I build aircraft, so naturally I've decided that I'll - ahem - blog about fashion.

What's that you say? SL Fashion is already covered at great and extensive length by everyone and thier cross eyed cat?

Oh... Well then aircraft it is I suppose."

WW2 Sanctuary Combat Roleplay Sims in Danger.... Vickster Kuhn Comments

Vickster Kuhn commented on my post WW2 Sanctuary Combat Roleplay Sims in Danger.... PART 2

"Tough times I guess.

Anyone involved with our SL flying group, the RCAF, will know that we've been struggling to keep our own home base in Caledon going.

The Sanctuary sims are quite unique in SL, and they represent the fruition of many residents' work.

It's a showcase for SL aviation and the development of the the VICE combat system, and the playground of the most active and well known flying groups in Second Life.
A favorite of newbies and veterans alike, Sanctuary has been my home and home to several squadrons to which I belong.

I've been working as an admin there in exchange for a base for my own squadron, JG 132, the Richtofen squadron.

Things in SL happen pretty quickly, and just when you think you can count on something as a given you turn your head and it's gone.

Sanctuary will always be one of my most favorite places. I've been flying for most of my SL career, but Sanctuary is where I got to employ all I've learned from some of the best aviators in SL, including Niki Wilder and MeganAnn Mills, Zoe Connolly, Noel Oh, Cody007 Skytower, Bradyn Halcali and Whitewolf Mumfuzz.

It's heartbreaking to see something like this come to an end, and I'll always wonder what I could have done to help make it work.

It's my hope that there will be something in the future to fill the vacuum that will surely be created by the loss of Sanctuary.

There is still time to play there, and if you're into it you won't regret going. Search for Fallout, Bastogne, or Rangoon, which is the Legends of WW2 sim, and the only one of the three likely to be around next month.

Tell 'em Vickster sent you!"

WW2 Sims in Danger.... - Royal Caledon Air Force (RCAF)

WW2 Sims in Danger.... - Royal Caledon Air Force (RCAF)

Yesterday, I learned from an Admin at WW2 Sanctuary that 2 of the 3 sims (Bastogne and Fallout) are up for sale by Saffron Giano. The Seller and Admins are looking for a Buyer willing to preserve the status quo of the sims.

If you would be interested in such an undertaking, please contact Saffron Giano. The cost is approx. 300 USD per month for each sim.

Sadly, without a buyer, the 2 sims will be gone after June 30th. So if you enjoy those sims, play there while you can.

Assignment Earth 1944

Our new assignment was long overdue. Although with so many members of the team recovering from our last mission, perhaps it was just right..

One of our best agents, Avery Robbiani, was still on medical leave and may not make this one. But that's why all of us train for any contingency. We need to step in when a team member falls.

For the time being I set aside thoughts of my crew and entered the planetary database room. From here I could select any known planet's historical database and identify problems in the timeline.

Now that I had my clue from the President of New Gallifrey, I selected Earth and determined the source of her concern.

July 1944...

The nation-state known as Nazi Germany. Trouble with a Capital T!

A renegade Time Lord was planning to interfere with Earth's history. Their intention is to give advanced weaponry to the National Socialist regime in Germany. Hitler would have V2 Rockets with Atomic Bombs!

Earth's timeline would be altered forever, giving a madman complete rule over the planet by a madwoman from another time and place.

It was now my assignment to gather my team, plan and execute our mission.

1) Remove or destroy all non-historical record artifacts from the spacetime disrupted area.

2) Remove or destroy the renegade Time Lord from Earth.

I returned to the Time Tunnel and made some notes....

....but what was most disturbing about the clue from the President, was the name of our TimeLord-of-Interest.

from RCAF Intelligence.... - Royal Caledon Air Force

from RCAF Intelligence.... - Royal Caledon Air Force

A new enemy to our dear Caledon homeland is expected near our southern border within the week. The nefarious government of New Brunswick has formed and will no doubt be sending reconnaissance teams to document military strength and the fighting will of the good people of Caledon.

Be ever diligent, watchful and remember to increase patrols along the southern border as well as check for suspicious "persons of interest" in RCAF Airfields and other sensitive facilities.

RCAF Air Combat - Sunday 10 May 2009

On May 10th, pilots from the Royal Caledon Air Force gathered in Liberty Lovelace for our usual Sunday morning air combat exercises.

Our dogfight that day was anything but usual as we soon discovered an uninvited guest.

RCAF pilots Vickster Kuhn and Cornelius Fanshaw discovered an Air Kraken at cloud altitude. This beast of the air was the approximate size of our aircraft and gave chase to both fine pilots. I'm pleased to report they kept their wits about them and were able to escape the beast's clutches....or tentacles....or whatever.

Through a happy coincidence, Professor Marion Questi, an Oxbridge Zoologist of note, soon arrived and explained his research into the Air Kraken of Lovelace.

The beast's vision and sensory perception is somewhat limited to 50 meters and it is possible to out fly the beast with sufficient speed and piloting skills.

In regards this Air Kraken of Lovelace, I am issuing the following order to all my pilots. I order the destruction of this threat to military, commercial, and pleasure flying craft before the beast can reproduce and its offspring become an even larger threat to Lovelace, Caledon, and other nation-states of the Realm of The Roses and our Allies.

2nd Annual Mad Scientist Convention

On the Royal Caledon Air Force watchlist....

"Caledon Steam SkyCity is proud to present the SSC 2nd Annual Mad Scientist Convention - SSC ReAnimated
May 2nd, 2009; 3pm and 5pm SLT

Has your research turned to archaic subjects?
Do your formulae come from ancient tomes as much as from modern journals?
Are you meddling in things Man was not meant to know?
From Frankenstein to Tesla, and from Flamel to Herbert West, some scientists cannot leave well enough alone.

Join us on Saturday, May 2nd at 3pm for the Speed Building Contest, Avatar contest entries must be received by 4pm with winners announced during the Mad Scientist's ReAnimation Ball starting at 5pm. There will be two build contests with a grand prize in each category and a dance in the evening.

*Unnatural Creation Avatar - Building starts now, with judging on the day of the convention. Create an avatar from scratch. Is it a murderous robot? A living Construct? Did you summon Cthulhu from a test tube? Let your imagination run wild, and show us that science really can "open strange doors." Avatars will be judged on creativity, quality, and fit with the theme. No parts from other avatars - must be wholly your own creation. Judging between 3pm and 4pm SLT.

*Speed build- one hour, theme related to "weird science practices" will be announced at the start of the contest. Building starts at 3pm, and stops at 4pm. Judging will be based on quality, originality, and how well it fits with the announced theme.

Do not let the narrow-minded views of fools and stagnant academics hinder you. This is Science!"
