Thank you from Sumie Kawashima's family

Original Group Notice sent to Independent State of Caledon group from: Diamanda Gustafson, resent to Royal Caledon Air Force (RCAF) group from: Zoe Connolly....

The family of Sumie Kawashima wishes to express their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of support and love they have received from the Second Life community, and Caledon in particular.

"The multiple in-world memorials and remembrances have touched our hearts and is a testament to how much she was loved in Caledon and in real life. Sumie was laid to rest last week beside her mother in a small private ceremony. Thank you all for the love you showed our little Sumi. Peace, Sebastian (Sumie's fiance)"

"Thank you for taking care of my daughter in this virtual world. She went back to her mother, and we miss her. The honors you have given her here are also honors here, in the real world. Second Life and Caledon saved my daughter from herself, and for that I am eternally thankful. Signed, Sumie's father (name withheld by request)"

RCAF celebrates 1 year!

I'm proud to announce that the Royal Caledon Air Force celebrates our first anniversary today, October 24th. A year ago it all began!

RCAF was created prior to the Opening of the Caledon Penzance sim and The Connolly Aerodrome on November 4th, 2007.

An official celebration for both anniversaries is currently in the planning stages.

Many thanks to all the pilots and supporters of the RCAF and the aerodrome.

You make logging into SL a pleasure ;)

Veyron Supercharge hosts the next Second Life Bloggers Party

Veyron Supercharge contacted me recently and volunteered to host the next SL Bloggers Party.

Here's her Master Plan (or I should say Mistress Plan)....

Blogger Party - September 7, 2008

When: 1pm SLT until we pass out
Where: Sierra Nevada Sim - SLurl announced soon

Tired of the same old usual party? People showing in some unusual costume or outfit, everyone commenting on how lovely they look. How about something different? :D

Theme: Mistress/Master Ball - submissive's can come too... :D
If you're not "into" D/s, come in your favorite kinky wear for fun.

Rules: Things have to stay like movie R rated at most. If you've seen an R rated movie lately, that covers a lot of ground....
Some area will be provided for extra curricular activities.

Now for the fun part, a submissive auction. Not one, but two of them. First auction will start at 2pm SLT. Second auction will start at 7pm SLT. You can be in both auctions should you choose to be. The winner gets the slave for 24 hours (if that's 1 RL or SL day that's between the two avies). Any limits the sub has must be stated before the auction starts. No SL TOS violations (you know what that means) are allowed. As part of terms the sub can agree for the time to start after the party or during it. Starting price for all auctions is L$500. The auctioneer will take a 25% commission from the winner, and the sub will get the rest. While the auction is going on, the auctioneer is the the sub's dom/domme and must be obeyed.

Subs who will be auctioned should report to the auctioneer 30 minutes prior to their auction and be prepared to be available for viewing. Comments from the peanut gallery are welcome during the auction.

Doms/Dommes who wish to volunteer to be auctioned off - for a good cause - will be given preferential treatment, but once you start, you have to finish, and you are bound in good faith to follow through.

Anyone who is not a dom/domme or sub and wishes to be auctioned off may do so, but should understand - uh - what they're getting into... :D

If you want to be auctioned off, you need to IM Veyron Supercharge or email her at veyron.supercharge at gmail dot com before the party. Note which slot or slots you want to be in. If you plan to attend as a bidder also email or IM as a courtesy so we can gauge how much interest there is.

Try to wear a group tag that lets people know if your a dom/domme, sub or undecided... :)

P.S. Rumor has if there is a good response, several well known bloggers might be up for auction....

Second Life Bloggers Party :: A note from GoSpeed Racer

Second Life Bloggers Party :: A note from GoSpeed Racer...

The Itinerary for the Sunday 24 February Second Life Bloggers meet is fairly basic.

The meeting/party will run from 1pm to 4pm SLT in the Sailors Cove estate, specifically the Tradewinds clubhouse and the open area nearby.􀀀

The main hostess will be GoSpeed Racer and Ravishal Bentham will be the DJ for the event. In addition to music and dancing there will be a few parlor games like Greedy Greedy, Darts and Pool. There is also a hang glider platform too. The last hour of the meeting we will have a grand sail and anyone with any sort of boat is encouraged to rez them and sail all 15 sims in the estate. If you have no boats then there are more than enough seats to go around.

Sailors Cove estate is a family oriented sim so keep the clothing and language modest. No weapons either! Areas out side the commercial district and water ways are private residences, please do not intrude.

Please contact me or Ravishal Bentham if you have queries or ideas for the party you would like to share.

SLBloggers Party - First Reactions

August Blog Party « Just me, dinee

tiana creations: blogger party 19/8/2007

I would say this Second Life Bloggers party was a smashing success! Thanks again to JellyBean and Hawks for hosting the latest in our party series. You've raised the bar for all of us *gulp* (thinks of how she's going to pull-off a great party in December)

Now it's time to think of a few themes for our September Party.

Girls with Guns :: The Steampunk Version Part 2

I have lived in the Victorian Steampunk world for some time now. First in New Babbage, and most recently in Antiquity and Caledon. I've grown a deep affection for my homelands and the citizenry.

So it was with deep sadness I read of the recent trouble Caledon was experiencing with Vulgaria.

Vulgaria...the very name tastes sour as I say it aloud in my study.

Previously, I had been in contact with Eladrienne Laval on the subject of creating a League of like-minded Victorian Ladies who would be ready at a moments notice to protect our lands using various covert surveillance and actions.

After hearing the news out of Loch Avie, I went forward with founding this unique group ahead of projected timetables and as yet I am short staffed. I shall require several undaunted ladies who do not shy from the use of weapons or in service to Caledon, Antiquity, and New Babbage.

I present....The Steampunk Ladies Spy League (SLSL) in service to the Victorian Steampunk regions. As Spy Mistress of this organization I offer the services of The SLSL to Caledon in this hour of need.

Ladies....I implore you....there can be no substitute for a Caledon victory over Vulgaria.

» What’s in your name? M is for Myg

Myg had a great post where she asks "What’s in your name?"

Good question.

Okay, here goes...

"Zoe Connolly"

Hmmm, why did I choose this name way back on January 21, 2007 (That's a rezday party hint by the way. And we soooo need a Rezday Party Planning Committee in the SL Bloggers Group)

Anywho...

1st: I wanted a name with an exotic letter like Q, X, or Z. I chose Z for a few reasons. First off, I love the "Z" sound. Even if having a Z name gets you on the bottom of all "Friends Lists", Z names are cool.

2nd: The name "Zoe" is Greek in origin and means "life" and this is Second Life....so....there ya go!

3rd: I love the word Zoetrope, which in the SL context seems to fit well...A zoetrope is a Victorian Era device that produces an illusion of action from a rapid succession of static pictures. If I could do it over again my name would be Zoetrope Connolly. Much more unique and quite fitting as a name for an avatar in the Victorian sims.

4th: Nearly every woman I've met in RL named Zoe was attractive, dynamic, unique, exotic, and intelligent. And at least in small part....eccentric. But in the interest of full disclosure...I *did* find this...."The real name meaning for - Zoe - Talentless chick. Prepared to use sex as a weapon." Heh! Yes there's anti-Zoe bigotry out there.

Now, about my last name....

I wanted a last name that reflects my RL English, Irish, and Scot ancestry. I can't recall the other choices, but the name Connolly seemed to fit well with Zoe.

Here are a few quotes from a famous Connolly...

Idleness is only a coarse name for my infinite capacity for living in the present.
Cyril Connolly

Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.
Cyril Connolly

Always be nice to those younger than you, because they are the ones who will be writing about you.
Cyril Connolly

So there you have it, ladies and gentleman. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Spinning plates while balancing on a fence...

I try to balance RL, SL, and my blogs that cover SL. This kind of multi-tasking is taking a toll on my health, so I'm taking steps to find more balance in my life.

Part of the day Saturday and all day Sunday is devoted to SL. I'm inworld most of the time - internet connectivity permitting of course.

My blogs have evolved since I started SL blogging in March 2007. My focus now is the 19th Century world within our virtual world of SL. I cannot cover everything in SL, nor would I want to. My focus will be on the Victorian era steampunk and Wild West sims, almost exclusively. Two of my blogs no longer exist, so please update your links if you haven't noticed yet - Second Life Events and ZoeCorp ZabrinaWorks are deleted.

In addition, I'll be working on my Second Life BloggerCon 2008 event. I'll need one or two people to become co-owner(s) of my Second Life Bloggers group and assist with day-to-day maintenance and operations so that I may devote more time to other projects.

I'll have details on the SL Bloggers Logo Contest in a post this Saturday. The winner of the contest will receive 5000 linden dollars.

That's all for now, xoxox
