Oh, my goodness, thank you so much for sharing that. Much as I love them I didn't know more than what little research I had into Sky Captain when it came to those Kittyhawks. Such an extraordinary story, and particularly the times when bullet-riddled propellors keep on carrying those pilots home.
That flying legion/AVG was really quite something. It's wrong of me to crave war, but the dogfights seen there just oozed appeal to me.
