I believe it was Ram Dass I heard, not sure, but in a recording he used the expression "boundless outward into the univerese, boundless inward into the atom..." (I think he was even paraphrasing one of the Hindu texts). This vid really gives a great visual of what that whole concept.
Interesting find! One thing that I did find interesting (apart from an American film using metric back in the seventies) was that when it reached 1,000,000,000 the description given was 1,000 million, not 1 billion.
Minor thing but an interesting note on what has changed in the relatively short time since the 70s.
