Decisions, decisions...

My SL News: My time is so limited....I have to make difficult choices on what I do in SL and what brings me the most joy.

As many of you know, I love Victorian Steampunk sims such as Caledon, New Babbage, Antiquity and Steelhead City. My involvement in Steampunk has grown at a tremendous rate.

I also love the Battlestar Pacifica sim known as BSG47. My involvement there is growing over time as I get to know more of my fellow roleplayers. A few people I met there have given me a position in IPX and the upcoming Babylon 5 sim. I've been offered a few opportunities I have yet to decide on..... like the possibility of a Duchy sim in Antiquity.

I've developed a love for sailing and flying in Caledon and Antiquity.

Well...I've made the decision now. One I've been thinking of for many months. When I woke up this morning I had the answer to my time management issues.....I've decided to leave several great groups I've created, so this is a painful one....like letting go of your child in a way, seeing her off on her first day of school. Painful, scary, and hoping for the very best for your little girl.

I'll be leaving 3 groups....

1) Girls and Guns
2) Second Life Bloggers
3) Second Life BloggerCon

I'll leave as soon as leadership is filled and transfer of powers are completed.

This decision does NOT come easy, but it *is* a necessary one in order for me to preserve my health, sanity, and happiness in SL.

Electric Sheep's OnRez viewer - first impressions - Second Life Insider

Electric Sheep's OnRez viewer - first impressions - Second Life Insider

"Well, I lucked out a bit and peeked in on the state of the OnRez viewer about a minute after it went live. It takes about as long to download as the regular viewer (about a minute and a half) being similarly sized (not like LoTRO's 900MB update today).

First impressions? Nothing is where my fingers expect it to be, and my visible view of the world is a bit reduced. Second impressions? I rather like it. The location bar (and embedded browser) can be hidden or revealed at the touch of a button (though the much larger new Linden Dollar balance display remains onscreen at all times)....."

Wrath Paine vs. Second Life: Wrath Paine vs. The Office

Wrath Paine vs. Second Life: Wrath Paine vs. The Office:

"One of the things that diminishes my time in SL is watching television. Admittedly, it's mostly crappy reality tv shows that I'm addicted to, but critically acclaimed series, as well. Such as The Office on NBC. I initially got interested in the show from watching the original BBC version and can remember I was none too excited to hear that there was going to be an Americanized version of the programme, but since the show has been on the air here, it's better than nothing, especially since the UK version completed its run long ago..."

"It seems there’s been a rash of people that think it’s funny in Second Life to join public groups you belong in, even if they have no interest. They talk to your friends, check your profile and check out your picks constantly. They might even know what new groups you belong in, inside of a five minute span.

It’s disturbing. It’s extremely creepy. Some of them have even taken it out of world, onto their blogs or Flickr pools where they blather on and on about said stalkee of choice...."

An Engine Fit For My Proceeding · The Conclusion of Voices?

An Engine Fit For My Proceeding · The Conclusion of Voices?

"I was recently considering the matter of Otherworldly Voices. There was an immense kerfuffle about the introduction of Voices to the Grid - admittedly, there is an immense kerfuffle about any introduction or removal of anything whatsoever, but in this case it was a kerfuffle promulgated by many Leading Thinkers and Commentators, and also myself.
Some predicted that the presence of Voices would lead to the elimination of “Immersionists”, dinosaurs - all New Residents would expect Voices and would relegate the silent to the dusty library corridors to which they properly belong and where they can say “shhh” to each other in private. There was the prediction that Voices would cause awful discrimination between those wishing to use them and those not, and huge social divides would occur. Would shopkeepers be required to have Voices on their lands or face bankruptcy? How would facilities for New Residents cope with the flood of New Residents wishing to send Voices from outside?
Some months have now gone by, a reasonable period of time I feel, the kerfuffle has been de-fluffled and, I must say, the overwhelming attitude that I perceive to the matter is, well, neutrality, if not boredom. I am not a particular fan of the presence of Voices, I consider it an irritating intrusion and furthermore it does not agree with the Hardware of my own Engine, and I was concerned as to possible implications but really - I have not encountered a single person even suggesting that I send Voices, and while I did see a few people keen to experiment (and all power to the experimenters, say I) now it is all old hat.
In short, nothing much appears to have changed...."

"Long ago, I started storing notecards I was often referring to, and textures like sailing race courses, in a prim that I textured like a notebook. Next step was to make a prim-version of the notebook, with proper leather and paper textures.
Then came the open version, which I also added some textures to the pages.. and some functions.. animation of the open notebook, while holding it, then some more functions.

However, as you well know, not all places allow you to rezz things, so where to keep those notes handy? The answer was obvious, of course, on the HUD.
So the HUD version of the notebook was born as well...."

RL is kicking my ass!

I'll be back for longer periods of time ((other than responding to messages)) as soon as I can.

Right now I need to concentrate on sleep and work....and sleep.

Did I mention sleep?

Zabrina McMahon......Cylon!

Is she a Cylon or a human sympathizer? I really cannot say...

I've come to realize...I don't know my sister at all. I fear there is no turning back for her....and one day I shall face her in battle where I must destroy her, or she will surely destroy the world!

A warning to all in regards my half-sister Zabrina

I was hoping to avoid this announcement, but alas...it is now unavoidable.

My younger half-sister Zabrina McMahon has taken a decidedly dark-hearted view of humanity and seems bent on World Domination.

Several weeks ago whilst conducting laboratory experiments to create a doorway between universes, Zabrina was injured in an explosion. I rushed to her aid and took her to the best doctors in Caledon.

Very recently she has emerged from her convalescence and is back amongst the living. Although her body is healed, her mind has been tainted somehow....The good girl I knew is gone.

Zabrina is now....quite evil....

In my Caledon Regency lighthouse I've discovered scribblings of notes and diagrams for various schemes and nefarious plans hidden behind a bookcase. They all involve the overthrow of several governments...Most notably Antiquity, Caledon, and New Babbage. All are penned in her handwriting.

At times she will mumble or sometimes loudly declare...

"I'll show them, I'll show them all"
"The grid is mine! All mine!"
"The spirit of Valedon lives within me!"

I'm not quite sure why she mispronounced Caledon - calling it Valedon - Zabrina was in a drug-induced sleep when she made that last reference.

In light of her recent behaviour and with the Caledon Courts behind my decision, I've severely restricted her allowance from the Connolly-McMahon family fortune. I'm sure this restriction will cause her to mount some other tirade of bile against me personally, but I am convinced that it is absolutely necessary for the long-term security of our homeland.

Lessons learned from watching Law & Order SVU Episode AVATAR

This episode brought up the ageplay issue again...It was presented in usual creepy L&O:SVU fashion.

So here are the lessons I've learned from watching the episode titled "Avatar"

1) All you virtual worlders are perverts! Perverts!....The word "Perverts" repeated several times in the episode. Ya got that, pervert?

2) OMG! Wait!... According to the episode...I'm a nerdy, geeky, anti-social, pervert too!

3) Virtual World owners have British Accents.....Ooooooo!

4) Never visit secluded cabins (that probably eliminates half of SL), BDSM dungeons were not mentioned....huh, so dungeons must be okay, then.

5) Beware of obsessive old men with pig-tail fetishes.

6) And here's the big one....what happens in virtual worlds should stay in virtual worlds. I'm not clear on how creepy old guy obtained RL info on pig-tail avatar girl named "Vixy Something-or-other" (scratches head), maybe I was getting coffee when that was shown/explained.

And so begins my very first TV/DVD Commentary. More to come I'm sure!

Regency Fest! ....Battlestar Pacifica.....and the New Babbage Majestic Navy

What a great weekend in SL!

This weekend was time well spent in Caledon, New Babbage, and BSG47 Battlestar Pacifica.

Regency Fest was fantastic fun...we are definitely the party sim of Caledon and... whatever happens in Regency, stays in Regency....

In addition to all the partying going on....the weekend could be summed up with one word....uniforms!

I was in some sort of uniform when i wasn't a scantily clad dancer at a party. Yes! From one extreme to the other.

I didn't get any snapshots of us Sunday due to the lag problems, but my GF Tiana Meriman and I went to a sim and did some fancy flying. After some solo flying, we had a ride together in my executive helicopter and did a little roleplay as a TV reporter helicopter crew. We were Newschopper 5 reporterettes! My face hurt from laughing so hard in RL.

And Tiana was an excellent driver in my Dominus Shadow. I think she still has my keys.
